From the Owners Themselves

Accounts from people who brought their watches in — ranging from a simple reseal to a full complication service.

SC

Supachai Chantrakul

Bangkok, TH

"Brought in a vintage diver that I'd been meaning to have resealed for about two years. The turnaround was four days, they tested it properly, and the report they gave me was more thorough than I expected. Nice to finally know the seals are sound before the rainy season."

Nattaya Phromchai

Chiang Mai, TH

"My grandfather's automatic was running about ninety seconds fast per day. After regulation it's down to around eight seconds across positions — which is about as good as I could hope for with that movement. The timing printout was a nice touch."

Klaus Voigt

Expat · Bangkok, TH

"Found Mainspring after a frustrating experience somewhere else with a chronograph that came back still not working properly. Krit went through the whole piece methodically, called me before starting on one part that needed discussion, and got the pusher function working correctly. Three weeks, but worth it."

Araya Thamarat

Sukhumvit, Bangkok

"I'd had my watch's seals replaced elsewhere before, but they couldn't tell me whether it was actually tested afterwards. Mainspring confirmed the pressure rating in the report, which was exactly what I needed for peace of mind swimming in Koh Samui."

Priya Ramachandran

Silom, Bangkok

"Very straightforward experience. Dropped off an automatic that was running about a minute and a half fast. They measured it across positions, adjusted, re-measured, and gave me the sheet. Nothing dramatic — just the job done properly. That's all I wanted."

WS

Wanchai Srisuwan

Lad Phrao, Bangkok

"Annual calendar that had been skipping the date forward unevenly — sometimes two steps at once. It took Thanit a few days but the mechanism is now advancing correctly. He explained what the likely cause was when I collected it, which I appreciated."

In More Detail

Three Jobs, Step by Step

Longer accounts of specific service journeys — from the initial problem to the result on collection.

Case Study — Regulation

Movement Running 2+ Minutes Fast Daily

The Situation

An ETA-based automatic worn daily was running approximately 140 seconds fast per day. The owner had noticed the drift over several months but was unsure whether it pointed to a deeper mechanical problem or simply needed adjustment.

The Approach

Initial timing showed +138 seconds/day in crown-up position. The regulator was moved incrementally across three sessions, with measurements taken after each pass. No further service was needed — the escapement and mainspring were in good order.

The Result

Final timing: +7 seconds/day average across six positions. Owner collected with a before-and-after timing sheet. Timeline: six working days from intake to notification.

"I wasn't expecting to get a printout — that was a good detail."

Case Study — Complication Service

Flyback Chronograph with Erratic Reset Behaviour

The Situation

A flyback chronograph was resetting the seconds hand inconsistently — sometimes partway, sometimes not at all. The column wheel appeared to engage correctly but the hammer was not returning cleanly.

The Approach

Full complication disassembly. The flyback lever spring was found to have reduced tension after long service. The part was sourced, the chronograph train cleaned and reassembled, and function checked across several hundred actuations before sign-off.

The Result

Chronograph functioning consistently on collection. Owner was contacted before the part was sourced to confirm the additional cost. Timeline: twenty-two working days. Service record notes the replaced component.

"They called me before ordering the spring — exactly as promised."

Diver's Watch with Degraded Crown Tube Seal

The Situation

An owner planning to dive in the Gulf of Thailand brought in a 300m diver that had not been resealed in over four years. Visual inspection found the crown tube gasket visibly compressed and the case back seal darkened with age.

The Approach

All three gasket points renewed: case back, crown tube, and pushers. The case was ultrasonically cleaned externally before reassembly. A wet pressure test was performed to 10 bar, matching the watch's rated depth.

The Result

Passed 10 bar pressure test. Report issued confirming test result and gasket change. Owner departed for the Gulf two weeks later. Timeline: four working days from intake to collection.

"The report had the test pressure on it. That mattered to me."
